Our mission is to build bridges across communities in Kent through meaningful acts of service and compassion.
Kent Muslim Hands is a grassroots charity founded in 2025 by members of the local Muslim community in Gravesend. Our mission is to build bridges across communities in Kent through meaningful acts of service and compassion.
While our roots are within the Muslim community, our vision extends to everyone. We believe that supporting one another – regardless of background, faith, or circumstance – is the key to a stronger, more united society.
Kent Muslim Hands was founded in 2025 by a group of local Muslims in Gravesend who share a strong commitment to community service. The founding members – Bilal Farooq, Shiyamin Mohamed, Adnan Khan, Imran Tahir, Omar Ilyas, and Waqar Ahmad – each bring with them a background in charitable work and community engagement.
The idea for the charity grew from a shared belief that the values of compassion, service, and unity should extend beyond the walls of any one place of worship. Led by this vision, the founders came together to create an organisation that could respond to local needs and build stronger connections across communities.
Charity is a fundamental part of Islam. Our faith teaches us to care for those in need, to act with compassion, and to serve our communities with sincerity and humility. Through our work, we aim to embody these values and share the true spirit of Islam – rooted in kindness, generosity, and responsibility to others.
Kent is a wonderfully diverse place, and we’re committed to helping that diversity flourish. Through charitable initiatives and other outreach, we aim to support those in need in our local community and in the process foster real community cohesion.
Since our launch, Kent Muslim Hands has been involved in a number of initiatives that reflect our core values:
These early efforts are just the beginning of what we hope to continue and grow.
We may be new, but we have big plans. Our future goals include:
We’re always keen to hear from others in the community. If you know of a way we can help, or if you’d like to work with us, we’d love to hear from you.
We’re always looking for volunteers who share our values and want to make a difference. Whether you can give your time, your ideas, or your energy – we’d love to welcome you.
